New issue 1451 by [email protected]: ibus panel functions do not work
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1451

What version of the product are you using?
   ibus 1.4.1
On what operating system?
OS (Linux distributions, UNIX or ...):
   Ubuntu 12.04
Architecture (i386, x86_64):
   x86_64, Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz × 2
IBus version:
Input method name and version:
   Chinese SunPinyin
   Japanese Anthy
   Korean Korean
Python version: not sure how to get that. But I got the full upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04.
dbus version: as above...
dbus-python version: as above...
gtk version (if bug is about gtk applications): as above
qt version (if bug is about qt applications): as above

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Any step. It seems a bit better with gedit, but even in gedit clicking on any of the method (Pinyin, Anthy or Korea) does not switch the input method.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The keyboard short-cut (typical ctrl+space) enables the method. I am normally in UK environment. To starting typing in Chinese, Japanese or Korean, within LibreOffice, gedit, evolution (email), firefox, chromium, or else... clicing on one of the 3 method in the ibus panel does not do anything. Ctrl+space does switch to one method (not always though...), the one at the top in the ibus preference menu. Then Alt+shift+L (in the preference as short-cut to switch between methods) does not do anything. On the panel, I can click onto the various methods, and I get the dot moving, but the method remains the same when I type.

Please provide any additional information below.
I disinstalled everything (compete removal): langauges, ibus with all its add-ons.
Then re-start (not just log-off / log-on)
I re-installed languages: Chinese simplified, Japanese & Korean.
Re-start.
Re-installed ibus from the Ubuntu software center with all its add-ons
Re-start
ibus does not work.
It did work great with no problem with the same language/input methods in Ubuntu 10.10. Started to get strange in 11.04. Did not work in 11.10, and still does not work in 12.04.
