Have you tried ibus-m17n also?
Yes, in fact I even wrote a map for m17n, too:

Plain IBus seems to work better, though. I.e. I get completion proposals
and auto_commit mode makes the experience a bit smoother. I assume I would
have to implement these myself for m17n using Lisp?
