I just installed ibus, and it worked everywhere (qt stuff, gtk2 and 3
stuff
firefox would be gtk2 or gtk3 (Fedora firefox is gtk2).
It's good to check if your firefox loads im-ibus.so
% strace /usr/lib*/firefox/firefox 2>&1 | grep immodules
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules/im-ibus.so
