I had the "dead-key no more function" bug.
I resolved it.
Here's what I have:
I have ibus-anthy and ibus-translit.
I'm on the latest version of Kubuntu, up to date on 2013, september 11th.
I'm writing in french, japanese and russian.
I have all the QT libs and ibu-qt parts installed, even installed the
ibus-gtk in case it'd do something.
circumflex always work in konsole, kate, everything except:
circumflex didn't work in firefox, thinderbird, openoffice.
I didn't find anything on the web to help me so I tried to
uninstall/reinstall activate/deactivate ibus on a systematic basis. Here is
what I did:
-Do Something New
-delog/relog
-try circumflex in firefox and konsole
-activate ibus
-try circumflex in konsole and firefox
I'm listing only the "Do Something new" part and what it did after all the
steps
1- uninstall im-switch
still didn't work
2- install im-config
still didn't work
3-launch im-config
still didn't work
4-launch im-config in sudo mode
"need zenity"... well, it's a bit too much for me, swapping back to
im-switch
5- uninstall im-config
still didn't work
6- install im-switch
WORKS!
My advice: DON'T CONFIGURE im-switch, nor launch it for that matter. Only
INSTALL it.
Now I can write circumflex in every program and use ibus smoothly.
I'm no specialist, but it was really annoying, I thought maybe this could
help someone. Please feel free to ask any question if you want to know more.
