Your attachment is the screenshot of GNOME.
GNOME uses 'gnome-control-center region' command to setup XKB and ibus
engines instead of ibus-setup.
I'm not sure why your panel indicator shows 'Show Keyboard Layout' only.
Your distro might change the desktop.
The latest Cinnamon works with 2.0.14 works with ibus.
I guess Ubuntu 13.10 still may use ibus-setup and work fine but 14.0 does
not use ibus-setup.
I think KDE should work with ibus-setup.
