New issue 1712 by [email protected]: Various leak fixes

While running a gtk+ application in valgrind, it reported a leak ("Fix
GVariant leaks"). Then I ran the various tests from src/tests/ through
valgrind, and found more leaks to fix. These patches fix them. When finding
one kind of leak, I've tried to look for similar leaks throughout the
source files, so some of the fixes haven't been tested.
