OK, I tried ibus-hangul 1.4.2 in Ubuntu 14.10.
It seems now the default mode is direct input in 1.4.2.
You can toggle the mode with Hangul and Shift+space key by default and it
can be customized with /usr/lib/ibus/ibus-setup-hangul
