So
I'm painting my deck... **** Reminder, check the pressure that you
have your pressure washer set to before blasting you boat ****
I've
removed everything bolted to the deck. The last thing to be removed
was these outside rails (4 hours for the first, 2 hours for the
other). What I thought was a bent rail with 50 screws turned out to be
a straight rail that is bent during installation with 50 extremely hard
to remove screws.
My question is has anyone had any
experience installing these side rail? They were the source of many
leaks so when they go on I want it to be right and leak free. The
problem I'm having isn't in getting this thing back on, but getting the
caulk in there without being sloppy and getting enough caulk under
there to keep the water on the outside.
Typically
I dry fit, tape, then remove, caulk, reinstall, tighten screws tight
with one more turn on the screw needed. Then let that cure and tighten
hard after caulk is cured. The problem is I don't want to dry fit for
an hour, tape, then remove for an hour or two, then caulk and install
for an hour or two. If someone knows a way to skip some of these steps
without compromising the final results that would... well, it would
just MAKE MY DAY!!
