Thanks, that was just what I am looking for. I am wondering about his
direction, “After the ring is off, tip the winch 90 degrees and the top
should fall off.” I might need some help turning the boat and attached
winch 90°… anyone with muscle willing to lend a hand?

I have recently purchased a pair of Lewmar 30ST winches to replace the
standard Barient 16s on the boat. Does anyone know how to disassemble the
standard winch to remove it? Thanks for your help.
