I pulled the rudder this week, wow that thing is heavy. I am going to go forth with the resin pour into the unit, but I don't think it makes sense to secure the washer per the document. I assume since I saw no evidence of previous adhesive that there was non from the factory? I will seal up that area with a little epoxy resin, but was planning on keeping the washer loose.
Has anyone thought to put a bearing of some sort under the tiller head or is this unnecessary as the rudder will float to the top of its position under the boat - hence lifting the tiller head off the tube? Thanks Derek.- ________________________________ From: Derek Atkin <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, April 5, 2009 9:37:13 AM Subject: [IC27A] Rudder Repair Attached are a few shots of my rudder. I assume that I need to undertake the repair that is in the document I attached from Catalina. The plastic washer at the top of the post is a little loose, I assume that it should be tight to the rudder. thanks Derek #4297
