I built one for my ’72. It was pretty easy to do, I just used the old table as
a template and traced it out on a piece of plywood. Since I was able to control
the material I used ¾” plywood instead of the MDF that they used in the
original. I expect that to make it last a lot longer than the original did. I
also took the time to hand rub quite a few coats of polyurethane on everything
which should make it sealed up tight enough that it will never have moisture in
the wood.

Make sure you test fit it between the dinette benches before you do too much
work on the edges or the finish. Mine was off by just a bit and needed to be
cut tighter in order to fit, I am glad that I noticed that before it was all
done.

Best,
John

We are in the process of purchasing a 1978 Catalina 27, Dinette Layout. The
dinette table is warped - it looks more like a skateboarding park. Does anyone
have any suggestions on purchasing used parts for this boat? Thanks so much.
