Here are links to some decent pics of my 1984 with mid-boom traveler and
how I have it set up with the mainsheet from the traveler. does make it
easier than going to the mast and back to the starboard winch.

Brandon,
I installed a new rooftop traveler last year. I think it is 6:1
purchase and that together with the ball bearing traveler made it all
worth while. My wife normally handles the traveler and the new
traveler has made it much easier for her. I bought the traveler
through Catalina Direct but it came from Garhauer. If I would do this
again, I would direct to Garhauer.
I have some pictures and emails on moving the genova turning blocks
inboard to the coaming. I am traveling and unless someone else sends
this to you before I return home about June 1, I will forward them to you.

Well I'm almost to my favorite part of setting up a new boat, sail
handling and rigging. Sailing and sail handling is what I enjoy and
I'd much rather go sans engine and sail rather than spend a day
working on it. This is my first boat with an engine and It's still a
love hate relationship.
The mainsheet is set up mid boom from the traveller to the mast and
back to a winch on the starboard side. I'm going to change it so I can
sheet the main directly from the traveller, I'm just not sure what
purchase to go with. I was thinking anywhere from 4-1 to 6-1. 4-1
would probably be enough but extra can't hurt. What do you guys have?
I need to replace the stock traveller at some point but that'll be
later down the road. That way I can free up the starboard winch to use
just for the halyard. I wish the lines didn't exit the bottom of the
mast, I'd much rather just have winches on the mast and everything
there, guess I can't have it all my way.
Also I'd like to add an inside track for sheeting. The boat is still
in the yard and I can't visualize where the best place to set up the
track would be. The side decks are so narrow.
Thanks Brandon Snider
