Antifreeze is cheap -- motors and cooling systems ain't.  Replace at least 
every 3 years.

Anti-freeze does eventually wear out, and lose it's anti-corrosive 

properties.  Then the metal parts start to rust and turn the fluid 

brown.  Drain it all out and flush the system with a good radiator flush 

and refill with a 50:50 mix of antifreeze and soft water, and you should 

be OK.  Most anti-freeze should last 5 years or so at least, although 

some folks recommend replacing it every 2-3 years. That's probably 

overkill, but yours is definitely due for replacement!
