Here's the delemma.

The Petter Mini-Six in my Catalina 27 has elastomer mounts (like the R & D
variety) with degraded elastomers on two. I understand that this happens
when fuel oil drips on them, etc.

So, in researching replacement mounts, I found that in the Instruction Book
for the Petter Marine Diesel Mini-Six, the following is stated "The engine
mounting bearers must be of rigid construction and neither deflect or
twist when subjected to the weight of the engine and gearbox or their
operation."
"It is strongly recommended that when the engine bearers are of bare wood
or glassed-in-wood, that - - "

I'm not sure what that means.

Perhaps a PO had elastomer engine mounts installed, mistakenly.

Or, perhaps the British describe things differently.

Or, perhaps modern elastomer bearers are equivalent to wood in deflection,
etc.

Any thoughts?
