bob,

the teak is actually from a couple of floorboards from a larger boat that 
someone was tossing, (the boards not the boat). i did, however, stumble upon a 
stain combo that makes mahogany look just like teak. Minwax's Red Chestnut #232 
wood finish plus a little spar varnish, 50/50 mix to add some yellow, results 
in a nice red/honey color that is extremely close to naturally finished teak.

BTW you will never find teak at H.D. as it is very expensive. look to hardwood 
shops and chandlers.
