I know not what your current mount is, however my old mount is available if
you plan to keep your motor in the water while sailing. It will handle a
9.9 hp. four stroke motor as that is what I previously had.

Thanks for the info! We have a 82 Mercury 9.8 2 stroke. We are looking to
upgrade and possible get the same set up you have but money is the
issue.....Any idea if the current transom for the outboard can handle a new
motor
20 pounds heavier? Or do I have to get a new mounting?

I replaced my outboard this year. I had a Yamaha 9.9 hp. four stroke

outboard (1999 model year) that did me well, but because it had to sit in
salt

water its entire life, it was eaten away to the point that I did not trust

it to operate flawlessly in an emergency, so I upgraded.

I purchased a new Yamaha 9.9 hp. four stroke outboard with trim & tilt.

To mount it I had to install a new motor mount. Now, I can raise my motor

completely out of the water when it is not in operation. It is a beautiful

propulsion system and I am absolutely delighted with the upgrade.

If you are interested in further details feel free to contact me for

additional information.

So our mechanic has recommended that we replace our outboard. Has anyone

had to do this? And if so could you use the current mounting or did you
have

to get a new bracket?

Thanks!
