Yes it is suitable for a 27. If you install it your self, be VERY careful to make sure ALL the blocks are lined up properly with the reef points in your sail and the turning blocks on the deck. The "single line" has to make a bunch of turns and friction is your enemy.
Installed properly, you'll love it! One trick, mark your halyard at the proper reef point. Then, when the squall hits, just drop the halyard to the mark and "wail" on the reef line and you're done.
