Well, here in the DC/Annapolis region we have had 2 back to back blizards. We got about 40" at home and close to that amount at the boat in Shady Side MD. Today I finally made it down to have a look and clear it off. I have a friend who leaves near by and although he could NOT go have a look (250 yards through woods and across a field of 30"+ deep snow was too much to ask of him, he had reported that several boats sunk in the area but to his knowledge no sailboats! I was optimistic.
I got my brother to come help and bring his 24" snowblower. First we had to clear a place to park the car in the gravel driveway. Then clear a path through the 200 yards of knee deep snow to the boat. That took about 2 hours! The boat was fine although there was 2' of snow covering the deck & the cockpit was filled to the lower lifeline! After about an hour most of the snow was removed but there remained a few inches of ice on the cockpit sole. I have no idea how to remove that and clear the drains.
