Dennis,

I have an '85 TR with a Martec folding prop. It came with the boat. It
works great, both forward and reverse. The only negative is I race
Wednesdays and I have to go down into the quarter berth to get it lined up
so it folds (I'm lazy). I sent it back once to get it rebuilt as the blades
were getting loose. It is at least 10 or more years old.

If I were to buy one now, I would go with the prop that folds when the
engine is shut down. Don't remember the name, it is several hundred $ more
than what I have. It just depends on how many boat $ you are willing to
spend. If I were just cruising, I would stay with the fixed blade prop.

Subject: [IC27A] Investing in a Preformance Prop (Flexofold/Martec)

I'm considering a folding prop for this years improvement project. These
props are not cheap. Anyone with a C27 using one of these props? How do you
like it? Was there a true increase in performance? Was it worth the cost?
