The main mast lower shaft band is 3'2" I think. What are the rules in trimming
the sail for a race? In applying downhaul force because of having a sliding
goosneck, can the mains'l be pulled down via the downhaul tackle which would or
could pull the foot below the shaft band?
Adjusting the downhaul so that the foot is at the lower mast, use a cunningham
to adjust the luff? Or, am I not focusing on the real point and that is raising
the main to the upper shaft band and to hell with the first part of the
paragraph?
I hope this is not confusing.

Thanks to all who answered the height of the mast question.
Mike
