Matthew,

Sorry to hear about that. I’m surprised CD hasn’t suggested a modified
rigging toggle to solve your problem. It’s probably hard to even suggest
that kind of fix sight unseen.

I know the rigging source I usually recommend for refits (SECO South) wants
all the rigging in hand so they can see fittings and measure lengths for
themselves. It adds some shipping delays but typically you can have them do
the lifelines too and still beat the other suppliers.

Subject: [IC27A] Brand new forstay or shroud for standard rig for sale
...cheap!

I recently ordered a replacement forestay for my C27 standard rig from
Catalina Direct. Because my plan was to messenger it up through my existing
rollerfurler, I ordered it with a swaged turnbuckle fitting at the bottom
but with no fitting installed at the top and a foot or so longer instead, so
that I could trim the wire to the correct length on site once installed in
the furler and then terminate it with a Norseman eye fitting on top (also
supplied by Catalina Direct).

Unfortunately, it was only after the order arrived that I discovered my boat
has non-standard fittings on the standing rigging (some PO apparently
decided to oversize all the terminals), so this plan won't work out. As they
say -- "best laid plans ... (or perhaps, "measure twice, cut once!")

Alas, Catalina Direct cannot take the order back, and I have no use for it.
But maybe one of you do? And note that because of its extra length and with
the Norseman eye fitting, this item could be cut to size to replace any of
the standing rigging shrouds as well.

So my loss could be your gain. Catalina Direct gets $128 for a replacement
standard rigging forestay (my setup, with the swaged threaded stud terminal,
turnbuckle, Norseman eye, two toggles, and Locktite with primer, cost me
$177 before shipping). I'd take $100 for the whole lot (and cover shipping).
