I refinished all my exterior teak this spring. I took it to bare wood and
used Honey Teak. Liked the process very much and results look excellent.
Practical Sailor scored Honey Teak as top finish over a five year period.

Once the teak was prepared and taped off, I applied three base coats over
three days. I then had two friends help me apply the final base coat and
ten finish coats in one day. If applied after twenty minutes and prior to an
hour, the product can be overcoated without sanding. The process worked
well.

Next spring I will apply two maintenance coats and hopefully will never
have to strip the varnish to bare wood. Time will tell if patching is a
problem.

Doc Judy - Have been sold on Schooner Varnish for twenty years but this
year
decided to use Epiphanes. Am really pleased with result and like it so
much
better. Glad yours worked out.

HI all,

I did the compression post and a new door for the head on my boat with
Tung Oil. Looks good but it scratches very easily.

I did 9 coats of epiphanes on the pinrail and trim strips -- and they look
fabulous and don't scratch easily.

It was 10 times more work to do the pin rails with Epiphanes than the
strips I did with Tung oil...

If you're looking for an easy way of doing it here is a picture of my teak
after being treated with Formby's Tung Oil. It requires no prep & takes
about 20 minutes to do the whole interior.

Hi, Any recommendations for treating raw teak? We would like to keep the
natural color. Do we just treat it with teak oil? It's for the cabin
interior.
Thanks Bob
