Rob,

I love a challenge.

How many different ways have you tried to remove the key stub? How much is
still visible?

The original owner of an early boat we owned put the speed and depth
instruments in the starboard cockpit wall just inside the transom which
happened to be the same side as the transom mounted boarding ladder. When
the cockpit cushion were in place the control knobs were at the perfect
height to get stepped on. When I replaced them I fabricated a recessed box
that kept them in the same location but moved them back out of harm's way.

The C270 panel is recessed about and inch and has a fixed clear Plexiglas
cover over most (est. 90%) of the panel. The bottom is open with a contoured
arcs up over the ignition key and starter button for better access. When
the key is in the ignition there is very little key coming out past the
shear line of the Plexiglas.

Subject: [IC27A] Can I Push Her Buttons?

hi all,

i'm thinking of moving to all switches/buttons for my ignition system. has
anyone done this and if so can you provide some intel regarding the
schematics of the instrument panel? a permanently lodged semi-key is
preventing me from using the traditional switch and i'd like to avoid this
same situation in the future. thanks in advance! -rob
