Rod... I like having a key if for no other reason than I replace the ignition 
key on the closed raw water intake thru hull after each outing.  
Having to retrieve the key from there (i.e. on the closed raw water intake thru 
hull) reminds me to OPEN it prior to staring the engine.
I am diligent about returning the key to "its place" after every use.
Others suggested this practice and I've adopted it as routine.

there's nothing to grab as it's sunk inside the switch from attempts to pull it 
out with pliers. i think i'm going to move to all buttons anyway so i won't 
have keys to keep track of. my next post will be about that and panel 
relocation.
