I too am thinking of the same idea. I mounted my GPS and VHF to the bottom of the companionway hatch, greatly increasing visibility during sailing and racing. I would like my engine gauges to be visible, and my controls to be easier than where they are located, forward in the cockpit, or the starboard side.
