Hi Rob,

Wing tip is a bit of a spaghetti factory (18 lines to the cockpit) but one
of the things I did to ease operation was rework the factory single line
reefing. My first change was to hang a BB block through that forward cringe
(and earlier project converted the entire boat to BB blocks). That removed
the friction and it worked rather well.

When I added a second reef to the main I started using the 10:1 magic box
mounted as a Cunningham with a reefing hook to wrestle the front reefing
cringe under control.

Subject: [IC27A] Sailing....with a twist

hi all,

so i'm looking for opinions and advice on reefing systems. mine is set up as
a single line system with blocks at the luff cringle and on the boom both
fore and aft externally but not at the leech cringle (which does cause
friction). i have no boom vang but am equipped with mid-boom sheeting. the
upward tension from the reefing line creates a twist in the boom which i
assume would be countered with a vang but as i have no vang i'm forced to
tighten the mainsheet which is not ideal. our cat is set up for cruising and
is rigged with preventers on both port and starboard which in a pinch serve
as vangs on a beam reach but aren't very effective when close hauled. now
that this is clear as mud, does anyone have a similar issue and a solution?
thanks in advance-rob
