If its true that a well-trained horse will behave in a sidepull just
as well as in a bit... and I believe it is since I have noted my
horses I have ridden in a sidepull do all the same bad AND good things
in a sidepull that they do in a bit---

Then why does my jaspar seem a little confused about reining in the
sidepull? Is it just that he isnt used to it? He even seemed a
little duller with neckreining in the sidepull and I ended up mostly
direct reining. He actually "steered" best with leg cues. Like the
sidepull just had his mouth confused... Did I do anything wrong? I
may have had the noseband a little high since it was adjusted for
Tivar and I did not change it for jaspar other than to loosen the curb
strap.

Also, I thought the throatlatch was small because of Tivar's head
size, but then found it to be also on the last hole with Jaspar, who
has a normal horse size head! I wonder if sidepulls are supposed to
be snug at the throatlatch? Or if mine came with a short strap for
some reason??
