Just incidentally: Gudmar and his father and brother knew how to shoe horses long before he went to Holar (it seems to me all horse farmers in Iceland shoe their own horses). So it would seem not very clear to me how much of his current farriery is to be ascribed to his schooling at Holar. Anneliese
