You know, I've been wondering about seeing more in-hand videos. Of course I'm dreaming about doing anything with horses because we're snowed under, AND the temp right now at nearly noon is -25C....
We made the video of Dagur the other day simply because he hasn't been started quite yet...but it got me thinking. But wouldn't it be interesting to see how a horse moves without the interference of a rider??? But with some control of speed and direction provided by the handler... I know many horses know the verbal commands for varioius gaits, I wonder how those gaits would change with no rider on board?? I plan to ask Dave or Cara to take a video of Gusti trotting to I can analyze for myself why it's so smooth....granted with me leading him, Gusti will be moving much slower than he normally moves at a trot under saddle.... when Gusti sets his sails he can really cover ground with that big trot of his. Anyway, I thought it would be fun and fascinating if someone has the inclination to try take an inhand video....and allow us to see what gait is happening at any given time...or see when a trot morphs into something else, or the range of gaits that can happen when a human is leading ...meaning slower than the horse would probably move.
