-------------Hi Laree. I'm not sure what kind of horse he's riding, but if it' not an overly wide horse, you may want to check out a Wintec Australian Stock Saddle with swinging fenders. I am working with a husband and wife right now and just recommended this saddle for the husband (and more importantly, his horse - an arab/welsh mix). The guy needs something secure, but doesn't like a horn. He also will only ride western style. The equisuede material is very grippy. And the saddle is very adjustable to fit a variety of horses. Unfortunately, you can't put the extra-wide gullet plate in it, so it won't work for extra-wide horses. Dawn B.S.
