Hi Virginia
I don’t know if this is going to go through to the list as none of my other
email have but I will try.
Using foam on either side of the withers, instead of the entire length of
the Skito pad, to fill in the atrophy is a good idea in my experience and I
would put it in on the saddle side of the Skito pad as you were thinking
about. Many high withered horses are like that because of saddle damage –
too narrow a tree so it will be interesting to see how the horse responds.
That’s why you want to fill in the hollow space and not make the pad the
same all along – you will probably want to bevel the edge of the foam so
there is not a sharp edge (if you get the foam cold or frozen it is easiest
to cut)
How high withered is the horse? I have had quite a few people use the
Sensation with horses that have quite a good wither and they did really
well.
Let us know how it works.
