i agree with both of you.  at my lesson barn, the owner (who owned all
the horses except stjarni and one other instructor) seriously considered
herself all of their advocates.  i personally took on advocacy for my
favorite little paint mare in general (she could be a bit of a crank to
folks), for any horse i was teaching with or who anyone seemed to have
issues with while i was in the barn, and of course for stjarni.

there are plenty of barns out there where noone seems to care about the
schoolies.  i went through about a dozen of them before landing where i
did, and i was there for three years without having a single complaint
about how the school horses were loved and cared for.  it's not the most
common condition in the world, but there really are loving, caring
people doing their best to train riders in this world, and i feel that
both i and my mentor are doing our best in that capacity.
