Those use leverage to put pressure under the chin,
either with a leather or chain curb strap, it can be
pretty harsh, especially the chain. The bosal, the
real ones, which are made from braided leather, those
would just put pressure on the nose, pretty much the
same with a regular sidepull, but I think it's easier
to turn them in a sidepull, I also think the sidepull
makes a turning cue easier than a mechanical
hackamore, the mechanical hackamore sort of just
allows you to pull back. I have a mechanical
hackamore, have had it for years, but I don't think it
would be first on my list to recommend to others. I
think a sidepull is easier to use and it would be
harder to misuse it.
