I have met two renegeade hopeless horses in my life. Horses I would
consider not to have any redeeming value whatsoever and really should
be put down for craziness. One I rescued, tried very hard to help,
but could not and I sold him to a woman who loves him despite his
mental problems. He has a phobia of gates. think a minute what that
encompasses--- trailers, stalls, washracks, paddocks, roundpens etc.
It was hopeless. he also had signs of extreme neurosis. For one, he
was as self abuser, something I had not seen before nor since in a
horse. he had scars all over his flanks that were self induced from
constant biting himself. He was very sad! I could not help him! But
the woman who bought him put him out on 60 acres with 6 other horses
and seems very happy with him!

The second one is still around and he is actually mean. The meanest,
most calculating, evil horse I have ever seen. And I met him when he
was age 6 months and was just being weaned. I have never seen this
horse mistreated a day in his life, tho in my opinion, he is one I
would have personally kocked the heck outa him several times. And I
dont think he was spoiled! The first person who owned him ponied him
everywhere with his mom, ground trained, like any normal horse. She
sold him when he spooked going through a gate and threw her into an
electric fence and broke her collarbhone and left ankle.

You can watch his mind work, and at all times he is calculating how he
can fire off a kick and get you in the head without you seeing it
coming. I have seen him do that to his owners several times! when
pouring feed, bathing, just trying to pet him!His owners now baby him
to death even tho he is evil, and I would say thats the problem if I
had not seen him before, when he was evil for no reason. he kicked a
mare next to me once on a ride and gashed her hip open so bad she
needed stitches and she was just standing there. he has broken bones
of several people he kicked. He personally has bitten me several
times when i just happened to be standing near. One time on a trail
ride the owner rode up and stopped beside me and he quickly reached
and bit a chunk outa my leg to which my foot automatically responded
by sending my boot toe up his nose. I couldnt help it! and the owner
said he was glad I did it, he would have done it too, etc. But the
biting, all that wasnt the bad part, the bad part was that I was
completely relaxed and when he did it Jaspar jumped sideways and I
could have fallen.

he has come up beside my horses at a lope and tried to bite them in
the neck while I am riding and I have swung my crop at him when he did
it. I really dont care if that offends anyone when i do that! they
need to not ride with me anymore if their horse does stuff like
that... i carry a crop for spider webs and to waggle at jaspars eye
when he is about to snatch a bite of some bushes or if he does snatch
a bite I whack him a little with it, which he steadfastly ignores.
and when they lunged at my horse and the crop was there i swung out of
reflex sorta like a defensive manuever. But he slung aside which
could have thrown the rider so i apologozed afterward but that still
is no good!

anyway. those are the only two horses I know that are actually evil
and or mentally ill.

but in the first horse, he is so neurotic he really needs just to have
an understanding owner (he does now) and in the second case, the horse
is not responsive to training or kindness and I think he is hopeless!
