I finally had time to listen to Gudmar's interview with Rick Lamb in detail.
I have to give Gudmar credit for saying one thing that I think is important. When Rick said something to the effect that he was ready to talk about what makes the horses exceptional - gaits - Gudmar interrupted him and said, no, that it's the temperament that makes the horses special. I appreciated that. I've said it time and time again - gaits are gaits, no matter what the breed. But what attracted me most to these horses were the bravery, sensibility and their intelligence. The gaits are nice, but they're certainly not a novelty to someone raised in the south. I want to preserve the gaits in this breed, but most of all, I want to preserve the brains and sensibility.
