I had a different lesson horse for my class this week--a nice mare, but she's swayback giving a high wither so I didn't try my Sensation on her in fear it would rub the wither like it did on the other lesson horse.
Not wanting to use the school saddles which rub me wrong from not fitting me, I tried my Hrimnir which appeared to fit well with an Equipedic pad. The horse moved out well and seemed happy during the class. After I untacked I looked at my saddle pad to see the wear marks and it showed more rub at the front and back--minimal in the middle where she sways. Am I right to think that the saddle was bridging? I've ordered a Burr pad for my Sensation as Melissa at Nickers says it has more support plus it has pockets which I can fit with shims to help with high withers. Until it arrives I thought I'd shim the front pockets of my Mattes pad to use with my Hrimnir--the mare seems to drop right after the withers so I thought I'd put more shim in the front pockets than the back. Any other suggestions on how I can make a better fit? Thanks, V
