I re-arranged the herd yesterday. It was the second part of Andi's Christmas present. The first part being his gelding. I moved mom's 2 ex-geldings that a nurse at the hospital bought to Andi's pen. I figure this will be a first step before they move to their new home. The nurse bought a place with a few acres, so they will be leaving in April. Raven and Reno have lived together for almost 5 years, so being seperate, but still seeing each other should help when they actually leave. I also put Vinney (Foxi's baby) in with them. They are his favorite uncles, he loves them and they are very good to him. Vinney is 9 months, so way past weaning time. When I first brought Andi in, my bitchy mares dove in on him. So I chased them off and decided they needed to be seperated untill they get used to each other. At least untill the bitchiness wears off. I have a 4 acre enclosure next to a smaller one, with a shared fence. So Andi is with mom's good ole gelding, Fireman and Daisy the donkey, who has been his pen-mate. It looks like Andi and Fireman will be buddies, they are already buddy grooming each other. The bitches are charging Andi at the fence, but Andi does not seem intimidated by them. The bitches will eventually get over it, at which time, they will all be able to be together in one big herd. Susan in NV
