>>>> I have a 2 horse slant. My plan is to bring my very steady 11 yr gelding with me to help him along. My question is do I tie the 11 yr old and leave the baby free? Should I leave them both free? I'm not planning on opening up the slant, just keeping it a box stall.
I'm not sure I know the answer to that one. Any chance the mature gelding can go stay with the little guy for a day or more before the trip home? It might help if they meet before the trip and settle down. If I were moving the little one alone, I'd personally pull the divider and haul him untied. I think they do usually haul better with a friend, so I like that part of your plan, but hard to know what's best in a two-horse trailer. Has the little one been in the trailer already? Good luck - hope you get him safely home soon, with no hassle from your HOA. At least it's not a very long trip, although an hour will seem plenty long while you're living through it.
