Try one of the fly bonnets by Absorbine, they're softer and stand out
from the face more. Or a Cashel Super Mask is a bit softer. I use the
Fly Bonnets for eye problems, though.

And, if he's got a big, bushy forelock don't forget to braid it up so
it won't get caught up and rub the eyes more.
