Here's a little clip taken of Dagur today.

Cara thought about adding a saddle but decided riding bareback would
be much warmer. She just added a set of reins instead and is
beginning to offer cues to Dagur as I lead him (we're still just using
a halter on him). Soon Cara will be directing traffic and telling me
where to lead Dagur, the transition is slow....but all the directions
we give are fairly clear so there is no confusion.

Anyway, we started out today and almost immediately Dagur offered the
smoothest ground covering gait. It was hard for me to see as I was
leading him, but Cara said she felt as though she was floating.
Unfortunately the camera batteries went dead at that very moment so we
missed the video of it. By the time Dave got back with new batteries
Dagur had tired just a bit and so this video is a bit choppy, but you
still get the idea of a gait just bubbling near the surface. Sort of
mixed up a bit, but this boy is obviously gaited.

Dagur is still of the mind that if he sniffs Cara's right foot, he
gets a treat...somehow I clicked him at the wrong time and the idea
has stayed with him. We're working through it by just ignoring it.

I'm not saying I want to encourage this gaitedness at this point in
his training as we want to get a nice solid slow walk with him
first....but it's kind of fun to see a baby showing what comes
naturally.

I see some running walk. At the end he looks a bit more diagonal,
more trotty, but not clean. I haven't quite determined if it's
anything yet.

Thoughts?
