that was sorta my point :) I am not one who really KNOWS how to
choose conformation. To me he has such a big chest and big rear end,
such roundness all over. I always thought a gaited horse should be
lighter built, especially in the rear end... all I can think of is
altho he appears to be otherwise, if you look closely he has a very
short back. If you divide his body into thirds, his front chest and
neck and head is actually much longer than his back, altho his
'roundness" makes it look different than that... but I think of him
as being built sorta like an icelandic but on a huge scale :) He has
the roundness, the round butt, the broad flat back. All I know is,
man oh man, he's got it, and since he did a classic RW first time he
was under saddle, and ALL offspring I know of out of his sire and dam
do the same classic RW, that it must be in his conformation? His sire
is built like him. With his dam its hard to tell. She was so old and
swaybacked and shorter. She was about 14hh. his sire was 16hh and
Fox is 16.2hh. His uncle is a former "big lick" walking horse, and
they are usually on the pacey side, but he is 17.2 hh (no kiddin!) and
built sorta longer and leaner i think.
