>>>> I just wanted to say that if it is something like IR or Cushings it's
not always as easy as you and Sundance had it or Star and I are having it
right now.

If I gave the impression that Sundance's Cushing's disease was easy, I
certainly didn't mean to. It was horrible. He became an old horse virtually
overnight when he was only 19. I was very aggressive with the treatments,
and we tried everything. My vet was in touch with some researchers at her
alma mater as we adjusted his meds. He had symptoms that were not
especially linked to Cushing's, but that are now linked. In fact, his
symptoms were probably a lot more pronounced than most Cushing's horses. he
meds kept the Cushing's in "remission" for maybe 2 years, but after that, it
was a constant up and down roller coaster.

What I said was that I bought him when he was 11, probably recovering from a
bout of laminitis within the past 3 months or so. I had eight wonderful
years with him before he got sick again with no hoof problems after the
abscesses he had the first few months I owned him. Even after his diagnosis
with Cushing's, we had two good years. I would hate to relive his last
three years, but I have never, ever regretted buying that horse. He was
simply the best.

I would be the last person to ever say that Cushing's is easy to deal with.
It's not.
