Not just anyone can do it. Probably most people can't. "Good men" are swimming upstream, walking in the opposite direction of the parade, fighting the crowd. Not only that, but "good men" take abuse from smart, highly educated, yet ignorant people. Not everyone, may be not even more than a few, will take the chance, to stand up for the horse.
