>>>> The feet are a mess, but she's not rotated as much as the vet says - for some reason, some vets measure from the hoof wall, not the boney column. The poor mare is in bad shape though and we're hoping we can get her comfortable enough to continue in her role as Grandma for some time.
Hi Susan, Yes, she looks to be in sad shape, but glad she's improving. Interesting about the degrees of rotation. Yes, you can see the rotation, but there's no way that would be 35-40 degrees of rotation with the way I've known vets and farriers to measure it. In my limited experience, I've known horses 12-15 degrees of initial rotation - which maybe this is (?) - to return to soundness with good farrier care, many times with much of the rotation reversed. Of course, at her age, there may well be other reasons she won't be sound too. I'm certainly glad she's getting care now. Karen Thomas, NC -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
