Here's a video taken of Dagur last weekend. You can see he moves into a more diagonal gait and then it almost becomes a trot.
Also, Cara has been working on releasing the reins more and letting him have his head. When the video first starts you can see he's moving hollow but gradually moves his head down as he progresses. I can see it takes a lot of work and conditioning and time to get a horse off the forehand and move that hind end into some form of collection. In the next session from when this video was taken, Cara began taking over the 'driving' and let him have his head. That session was done all at a long and low walk. Thank goodness, it's a lot easier on me ;). We're nearly ready to transition him to working alone with Cara...but not quite yet.. He must be enjoying these training sessions as he met Cara at the gate when she was coming out with the sidepull in her hands.
