I think a really cool way to show off icelandics would be to have a
special versatility category at big shows, where they jump, do trail
obstacles, work cows, barrel race, costume and water glass classes,
and speed racking on a loose rein barefooted. Something nice and
american yee hawww. Then you could go and enjoy being a part of the
USIHC without feeling you have to be english and snotty and uppercrust
ya know.... I would like to see more trailer park class icelandic
events at shows. those are the ones I like most.

I have said something like this before and people have pointed out
there are lots of open shows where you can do this. But other
registries do it even tho there are open shows who have classes like
this. It would be nice to be able to say "I own the World Grand
Champion USHIC Trail Obstacle Horse" instead of when people say "do
you show?" you have to answer "ME?!?! Heckkkkkk noooooo I have a
REAL horse."

I like the SSHBEA bumper sticker that says "Spots on the Trail and
Spots on the Rail" and I really like the McCurdy Plantation Registry
motto "Made by God Not By Gimmicks".

I think thats where the overall spirit of horse ownership is headed
these days! people need to get hip to the times you guys!

Baby Boomers are old hippies. They are going back to nature. They
are getting into horses. They like Gaited horses cause they are old
and gimpy. They have a lot of money because they are old and their
children are grown. They like to own a big farm with a big pasture
where they can watch their horses graze. they would like to spend
their retirement money going to horse shows to watch the grandkids
barrel race their icelandic ponies. oh why not dream.... why not
wake up and smell the coffee?!
