I happened to catch a little bit of a program this morning wherein the
speaker was talking about an older couple that had made the decision many years
ago to move from their country of origin, to the United States.

Down the line, their children were somewhat confused as to the expectations
that the parents put on them.

The parents expected them to follow the culture of the parents' home of origin.

The children, being brought up in the new culture, felt more comfortable with
it.

Which culture should they lean towards; which culture were they obligated to?

The speaker felt that the parents had made a decision, so long ago, when
they decided to move to the US. They effectively "gave" their children a
new culture by making them American.

The speaker felt that if they had wanted to insulate their children from the
American culture, they probably should not have exposed them to it.

How do you think this relates to horses coming to the US from other
countries?
