I've never thought the sparklers on the legs abusive so much as garish and just plain tacky. If I want special effects, I'll watch a Spielburg or Lucas movie. I simply hate it when the show and glitz takes over above horsemanship and the fact that the horses are living, breathing creatures. It's sort of like giving more attention to an over-made-up a Vegas showgirl rather than a Nobel Prize winner to me. No thanks. Karen Thomas, NC
