You are not kidding about that - and add soreness in the neck and back. Why oh why are people so concerned about setting the head? The other highly touted piece of equipment is the Pessoa - which looks a bit like way we use a promise rope or wrap but because it then connected to the bit it just forced the horse into a frame and encourages the neck to shorten instead of lengthening and telescoping.
