Way to go Janice, You did not overreact in either case. The boy who was abusing the donkey may be headed for some big time future problems. His father needs to do more than apologize for his aberrant behavior. As for the strays, we had neighbor dogs kill our little pug dog and shred my whippet's throat so badly that we made an emergency vet run with towels wrapped around her neck to try to staunch the flow of blood. She survived, but for a while I had to dribble water into her mouth with a syringe. She couldn't drink from a bowl at first. My husband went roaring up to the neighbor's. The guy denied everything, but we never saw the dogs again. We also never found the pug - she was probably buried in the man's yard. We took to calling him "Bad Bob".
